Upgrading to Windows 7 - Using Windows Easy Transfer
You can use Windows Easy Transfer to transfer files and settings to a new computer or a new operating system installation on the same computer system. Windows Easy Transfer will transfer the following types of files and settings:
▪ User accounts
▪ Files and folders
▪ Program data files and settings
▪ E-mail messages, settings, and contacts
▪ Photos, music, and videos
▪ Windows settings
▪ Internet settings
Note: Programs and applications are not transferred. Windows Easy Transfer is a wizard that helps you transfer data using either a USB cable that connects the two computers or you can create a portable transfer file on a DVD or CD, USB flash drive or external hard drive.
To began using Windows easy transfer process:
1) Log on to your computer as the Administrator
2) Go to the Start Menu > Click All Programs > Click Accessories > Click system Tools. And then click Windows Easy
Transfer.
3) Following the onscreen instructions in the Windows easy Transfer wizard to specify the location and method of the
data you want to transfer. You will also provide a password for recovering the information.
4) On the new computer open Windows Easy Transfer and click continue Transfer in Progress.
5) Provided the requested information by the wizard. Once propped to do so insert the transfer disc and select the
destination drive ad enter the password then click next.
That’s all; the files and settings will transfer to the new computer.
