How To Windows 7 Install

There are two ways to install Windows 7 operating system on your computer.
- Upgrading an existing computer that runs Windows Vista. Upgrading will retain your programs and files.
- Perform a clean installation of Windows 7. A clean installation will write over all existing programs and files removing any existing operating systems like Windows Vista or Windows XP.
For this How to do a Windows 7 Install we will focus on performing a clean installation of Windows 7. This process will take you around 30 minutes to perform and requires very little interaction.
Before installing Windows 7 make sure you take the following steps move your programs, files and settings from your existing installed operating system to Windows 7.
- First create a list of existing applications installed on your computer and decide which ones you’ll want on the clean install of Windows 7. Take the time before the installation process to gather up all the installation discs and product keys of the applications you will be installing on Windows 7.
- Use the Free tool from Microsoft called Easy Windows Transfer to create a transfer file containing all of the files and settings from your existing computer.
- After you have completed the steps above it is now time to install Windows 7. Insert your Windows 7 installation disc into your computers CD/DVD drive and follow the onscreen directions. Now select “Custom Installation” this option is what allows you to perform a clean installation of Windows 7.
- Now it is time to installation your application and transfer your files that we saved using Windows Easy Transfer.
That is all you need to do to perform a clean Windows 7 installation.
